Advent reflections 2018
As we look forward to Christmas 2018 we have 3 advent reflections to help us on a journey from ‘Building the Peace’ to mark 100 years since the armistice towards the celebration and hopes that Christmas brings.
Each event will take place at St Peters starting at 7.30
(November 19th, 29th and December 6th).
On Monday November 19th we will be showing the film “Testament of Youth” which dramatizes an autobiographical account of life before, during, and after the 1st World War written by Vera Brittain. She was brought up in this area. The book provides a powerful portrayal of the effect of war on those who remain. It is a book that expects a response.
On Thursday November 29th “Watching and waiting”. Carole will lead an evening of reflection on the message of advent through poetry, music and image.
On Thursday December 6th we will return to ”A Testament of Youth” through Mark Abbott’s reflections on the book in conversation with Pete Davies. Judith Gibson will also be sharing her reflections on letters written by her grandfather from the front in the First World War.
