The bells at St Peter’s were installed in 1947. They were paid for by members of the parish as a memorial to those who fell in the War. This year then is the bells’ 70th anniversary. We are having a celebration!
The Sunday morning service on 22 October at 9.30 am will be special: we will be dedicating our new bell ropes. We’ll ring the bells before, during and after the service. Do come along.
This will be followed by a tower open afternoon from 2 to 5 pm when you can meet the ringers, see and hear the bells being rung and find out more about bell ringing. You’ll also be able to find out if any of your relatives or people from your house contributed to the cost of the bells: the Church has a book listing all of the subscribers.
The tower open afternoon overlaps with the St Peter’s Knit-In which is supporting refugee children in Greece. If you are interested in both events, there will be time to do both!
