Because the Corona Virus, the usual 10.00 – 12.00 on Mondays slot has been suspended. You might like to make use of the gardens in your own time, keeping your social distance if anyone else is there at the same time!
St Peter’s Community Garden project is creating gardens for use by people in the church and the community, on the old church school playground behind the church and in the church grounds. Come in and have a look! In normal times you are invited to join in between 10 and 12 on Monday morning to meet the volunteers. Coffee at 11!
The gardens have been supported by Cheshire East Council, Tescos and the Co-op to set up a polytunnel, potting shed, workroom and raised beds. They’re worked by church members and helpers from Rossendale, and have already been the scene of growing events and barbeques.
Working the gardens together is a great way of getting to know each other, and a celebration of the natural environment and growth. This year we’re linking up with ‘Forest Church’ to encourage young people to discover gardens and gardening, and we’re also starting to supply produce to the Hope Centre café. We’ve got plans for community workshops too. If you have any ideas or suggestions, or just want to find out more get in touch.
